Avoiding Baby Rashes and Other Baby Skin Care Tips
Babies skin are naturally soft and smooth and the reason why they develop rashes and other skin problems such as insect bites and scratches is because the things that we put on them such as diapers, harmful shampoos and lotions. Here are some tips that can help keep your baby’s skin as soft and smooth:
1. Use very mild soap, shampoo and lotion for your baby. Choose products that are hypo-allergenic and that are made especially for sensitive skin of babies. Do not use your soap when you ran out of baby soap. Adult soaps are very harsh and can dry your baby’s skin.
2. After bathing, apply baby lotion on your baby’s skin. Baby lotion helps bring back the skin’s moisture after the bath. Again, use only lotion that is made especially for babies.

3. Always trip your baby’s fingernails because they can cause long scratches on your baby’s face. These scratches will leave nasty scar and are very hard to erase.
4. When your baby’s already crawling, apply petroleum jelly to his elbows and knees especially the knees. Make sure that they are not crawling on surfaces that dry up your baby’s knees because of the friction from crawling.
5. For diaper rashes, your Vandol or any prescription ointment that your pediatrician will recommend. When your baby will not leave the house, you can use cloth diapers to prevent rashes.
Your baby’s skin tells a lot about the health of your baby and how you are taking care of them. Ensure that you care for you baby’s skin not jut to maintain its softness but also to avoid ugly scars and dry callous skin.
