Baby Food and Food Pyramid Guide

It is not always the case that the good food that adults eat is also good for babies. Although the food pyramid guide is a good source of information on what to feed our babies and how much of each food group should we give our babies, it should still be taken with a grain of salt.

There are some foods in the food pyramid that you should be cautious in giving them to your babies. One example is the nuts. Do not feed your babies nuts and food that have the same size because they can choke your babies.

Although peanut butter, eggs and soybeans are considered good for the adults, they may not be good for babies especially if you still don’t know the food that can cause allergies to your babies. The best thing to do is to feed your baby one kind of food every meal so that you know what food causes allergies to your babies.

Although the food pyramid recommends a few servings of meat in the daily diet of adults, babies can go meatless as long as they are having milk either breast milk or formula milk. They are both very good sources of protein for babies.

If you are giving your babies enough fruits everyday, they don’t need to drink fruit juices because too much juices cause diarrhea to very young babies. Don’t forget to give water to babies because when they are used to having water, they’ll develop good water-drinking habit very early.

Lastly, although the food pyramid includes sugary food (very little), you should not include them in your babies’ diet. Just stick with fruits if you want to introduce sweet food to your babies.
