Baby Teething
My daughter Fifi already has a complete set of teeth at three. She’s 6 now and all of her milk teeth in front have been pulled out because the dentist says Fifi’s starting to grow her permanent teeth. I remember the first ever teeth that she had: two teeth at the lower front.
It was a stressful time for me when Fifi was growing her first teeth. She had fever and diarrhea. She was also throwing up and she didn’t stop crying. She was my first child and I didn’t know what was happening. I wanted to rush her to the hospital in the middle of the night but my husband suggested we asked around first.
I called my Mom and told her what was happening to Fifi. Mom told me that maybe Fifi was growing teeth. She asked me to check little Fifi’s gums if there’s a ridge. She asked me if Fifi has been drooling at lot and gnawing at all things that she put her hands to. When I said yes to all questions, Mom was pretty sure that it was only a case of baby teething.
The next day, we brought Fifi to her pediatrician and told us that there’s nothing to be worried about. The pediatrician prescribed electrolytes for her diarrhea and ibuprofen as pain killer for the pain in her gums.
If your baby is from 3 months old to 7 months old and having all of those symptoms like Fifi, don’t panic. It can be baby teething. Seeing your child growing teeth is one of the milestones in parenting. When your baby is already eating, give him soft food like pureed fruits and vegetables. And of course, it will not hurt if you visit your child’s pediatrician just to be sure.
