First Day of School Tips
Children’s first day at school is a big thing for them. For all their lives, they are always with you at home or wherever they go, they know that they are going with you. It can be very scary for some children if you tell them that you will leave them to their teachers that they first met there.
My son is now in nursery and I remember his first day at school. I was already telling him the night before he’s going to school the next day and that I am not allowed to get inside the classroom. As I am also a working mom, I told him that I can’t stay for his whole class at school.
I explained what will happen the next day to my son. I will take him to school and he’ll see many other children there. I’ll leave him there to play and learn with the other children and with his teacher. After the class, I’ll come back to fetch him. I asked him the night before if this is all okay with him. He was very excited and told me yes.

When the next day came, my son was crying and didn’t want me to leave! I ended up calling work and staying for the three hours at school. I still stayed outside but the teacher left the door open so that my son could see me.
I know that I should not stay the next day because I had to go to work. That night, I talked to my son again. The thing that really convinced him was that among his classmates he is the only one whose parent stayed outside the classroom.
If your child is about to go to school, it is best if you make him attend summer classes first than to immediately start him on the real classes. When they realized that school can be fun, they’ll be less crying and having tantrums when their first day at school comes.
