For mothers who work, hiring and choosing a baby sitter is one of the hardest to do. Hiring a baby sitter is entrusting your baby’s life to a person. It is very important that you choose a baby sitter that you are very sure will take care of your baby or your kids.

Don’t hire a baby sitter that is not referred to you. When you are looking for a baby sitter, ask your friends, officemates, people from your church or organization or your neighbors if they know anyone who can baby sit. Make sure that they put in good words for the baby sitter that they are referring to you.
Have the baby sitter applicant come to your house and meet your children. See how they say hello to your children and see if they know how to interact with your children. You will have a gut feel whether this person is the right baby sitter for you or not. Also, if your kids are 3 or 4 years old already, ask them what they think about the applicant.
Before leaving your kids to the baby sitter, make sure that you orient the baby sitter first about your expectations and about your house rules. Show the baby sitter the first aid kid. Give them your numbers in case of emergency. Tell them what the kids want to do. Be specific with your instructions.
