New Year Wishes for Kids

2008 is saying goodbye and 2009 is waiting just around the corner. My eldest is turning 7 early next year and my youngest is turning 4 in October 2009. How fast the time passes by. I can still remember my kids when they were born. They looked really cute and fragile. Now, they’re still adorable but are sometimes naughty and hyper-active.

happy new year

For the year 2009, these are my wishes for my kids:

  • I wish they will be safe from harm. I heard about the 8-year-old girl from Los Angeles who was shot in the face by a man who rang their house’s doorbell dressed as Santa Claus. It can be very scary time especially for the kids. We cannot always be by their side always so I wish that my kids be safe from harm this 2009.
  • I wish my kids will continue to be healthy. I saw a kid today, an 11-year old kid in the cancer ward who is given only 2 months to live because the cancer cells has spread to his lungs. He is my neighbor’s son. I feel for the parents for this kid whom they raised and loved for 11 years and will be taken away from them just like that. Health is really a blessing and I wish that my children will remain healthy.
  • I wish that my kids will grow up to have the right values and attitudes. Kids are kids. They are moody at times. They are naughty at times. But at the end of the day, I wish that we are becoming good models for them so that they will lead upright lives when they become adults.

That’s my New Year wishes for my kids this coming 2009: safety, health and kindness.
